The SII limits the use of invoices in supermarkets and restaurants!

The Internal Revenue Service (SII) has announced new restrictions on the issuance of invoices in supermarkets and restaurants to combat tax evasion.

What does this mean?

  • Only for business-related purchases: Invoices will only be issued for purchases of goods or services directly related to the buyer's economic activity.
  • Final consumers: Personal or family purchases must be documented with receipts.
  • Stricter controls: Requirements such as the presentation of the e-RUT and identity card will be required for the issuance of invoices.

Sanctions:

  • Fines and closures: Supermarkets and restaurants that fail to comply with the regulations are subject to fines and even closures.
  • Buyer penalties: Buyers who improperly request invoices will also be penalized.
